Social Security

Centre for work, pensions and benefits

The Social Security Department helps people in Jersey achieve and maintain financial independence.  It does this through social and employment protection schemes.

Most people living and working on the Island pay contributions and are covered by certain benefits and a pension. The offices of the Social Security Department administer this scheme and in so doing, support people to achieve an acceptable standard of living.

Employment protection is provided through Employment and Health and Safety at Work Legislations. The Department also provides support for those looking for work, changing their career path and learning new skills. The Workwise scheme assists those with particular employment needs.

The Social Security Department is covered by the Jersey Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005.

The Minister for Social Security is:
   Deputy Ian Gorst
The Assistant Minister is:    Deputy Angela Jeune
